1. Who can use Tax Chopper?
Most Canadian taxpayers can use Tax Chopper to prepare their returns.
First, if you are eligible to use CRA’s NETFILE, then you can use Tax Chopper.
Second, even if you are not eligible to use NETFILE because you emigrated from Canada in the tax year, you do not have a Social Insurance Number, or the number starts with zero, you can still use Tax Chopper to prepare a paper return.
The restrictions on NETFILE are listed on CRA’s website. If the only thing you want from tax software is NETFILE, then make sure you can use NETFILE. You also have to use a NETFILE supported browser.
You can use Tax Chopper to prepare a tax return for any year since 2002. However, CRA's NETFILE service accepts 2013 to 2016 tax year returns only. For tax returns of 2012 and earlier, you will have to mail a paper return, along with the necessary supporting documents.

TaxChopper does not generate Quebec provincial returns, as well as non-resident and deemed resident tax returns.

2. Does Tax Chopper support my browser?
Tax Chopper supports all major browsers in MS Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Unix. We have tested the following:
On Microsoft Windows, from Windows 10, 8 all the way down to windows 95, we support Internet Explorer, Netscape and FireFox / Mozilla / Chrome;
On Mac OS, we support Safari, Netscape, FireFox, Chrome, Opera and OmniWeb;
On Linux / Unix, we support Opera, Mozilla, Chrome, Konqueror and Firefox.
We support all mobile platforms / devices, including iOS, Andriod, Blackberry, Windows etc.
Regardless of your platform, as long as you are using FireFox, Safari, Opera or Chrome, you should be able to use TaxChopper without problems.
3. I can’t finish my taxes in one visit, can I save the data and come back later?
YES. Whatever information you have entered is saved on our secure servers and you can access it any time you want.
Furthermore, you can use different computers, different platforms or different browsers to access the same account.
There is no expiration date for your account. It is always there unless you remove it.
4. If I am just trying out Tax Chopper, will I be charged if I click some button by mistake?
No.
You will be charged only if you are explicitly asked to pay, you are willing to pay, you have entered your credit card information and have confirmed the payment.
So you can feel free to try anything in Tax Chopper. Don't be afraid of making mistakes - all mistakes can be corrected.
5. After I have calculated my tax return, if I find some mistakes, do I have to pay again for the second calculation?
No.
If you are eligible to use Tax Chopper for free, you can change, re-calculate and even re-download your returns as many times as you want, at no charge.
If you are a paid client, once you have paid, you can change, re-calculate and re-download your returns as many times as you want at no additional cost. Before you pay, re-calculating and reviewing results are always available.
6. I am extremely concerned about my privacy. After I have finished my tax return with TaxChopper, can I remove my information completely from your server?
