1. Who can use TaxChopper?
TaxChopper can handle all tax situations except the following:
1. Quebec provincial returns
2. Non-resident returns
3. Pre- or post-Bankruptcy returns.
2. Does TaxChopper support my browser?
TaxChopper supports all major browsers in MS Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Unix, we have tested the following:
On Microsoft Windows, from Windows 10, 8 all the way down to Windows 95, we support Internet Explorer, Netscape and FireFox / Mozilla / Chrome.
On Mac OS, we support Safari, Chrome, Netscape, FireFox, Opera and OmniWeb.
On Linux / Unix, we support Opera, Chrome, Mozilla, Konqueror and Firefox.
3. I can't finish a tax return in one visit, can I save the data and come back later?
YES. Whatever information you have entered is saved on our secure severs and you can access it any time you want.
Furthermore, you can use different computers, different platforms or different browsers to access the same account.
There is no expiration date for an account. It is always there unless you remove it.
4. How the number of returns is counted?
Not all returns you prepare are counted, only the ones you want to download are counted. You can choose not to designate a return downloadable, in this case, you can still see the calculated results on screen.
Once a return is designated as downloadable, you can't reverse it.
We use social insurance numbers to identify different returns. If the SIN is empty, we use first and last names to identify a return. That means, after generating a return, if you change the SIN, then you might have used two returns.
